Friday, July 14th, 2023
StepUp is delighted to congratulate our advisory board member, Professor Sue Kurrle, on her appointment earlier this year of Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), for distinguished service to medicine as a geriatrician, and to research into dementia and cognitive decline. Over her 35 years of experience, Professor Kurrle has made groundbreaking progress in aged care, particularly elder abuse, frailty, and nutrition. She works at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai and Batemans Bay Hospitals. Among her many appointments, Professor Kurle is also the Clinical Director of the Rehabilitation and Aged Care Network of her local health district, and Director of the Cognitive Decline Partnership Centre at the University of Sydney. She was an expert advisor to the Royal Commission into Aged Care and to the ABC documentary series Old People’s Home for 4-Year-Olds and Old People’s Home for Teenagers. We are thrilled to see Professor Kurrle’s inspiring achievements be so deservedly recognised.
